Fibrelastic at Lansdowne Road

The new Aviva Stadium at Lansdowne Road is now open for business and home to the Irish National Rugby and Football clubs. It boasts a Fibrelastic pitch. See it being prepared here.

Pitch of the Year 2010

It was a double celebration for The Toon Army at the end of the 2009/10 season – for not only did Newcastle United win the Coca Cola Championship, but the grounds team took the title of ‘Championship Pitch of the Year’.

As well as the dedication of the Grounds Staff, the installation of a Fibrelastic pitch arguably made the winning difference because St James Park had been runner up to The Emirates stadium for the previous two years. The Arsenal ground uses a semi-artificial turf system from a competitor which football commentator and former Arsenal player Lee Dixon recently says “...plays well but is as hard as a car park.”

Further proof that Fibrelastic is the ‘choice of champions’ was borne out Bristol City’s pitch being awarded ‘runner up’. The other runner up - Middlesbrough FC uses Mansfield Sand’s Fibreturf RootZone system.
